Bela Beauty & Brow Bar

TLDR: Long post warning. I am a creature of habit. When I find a product or service that I like, I stick with it unless there are extreme circumstances that prohibit me from doing so. I have been going to Bela since I moved to George 6+ years ago after going through the tedious process of discovery of who would be my dedicated brow provider. 98% of the time, the service I have received at Bela was top notch. The other 2% is so inconsequential that I barely remember it. Let's face it: Anyone can open up a nail/lash salon and many people move into a city and DO. I have had the misfortune of being botched by beauticians around the city. What keeps me coming back to the shop is the general consistency and friendliness of Wilma, Natasha, Nicole and Mathilda who really do make the schlep out to the Mall worth the effort. So when I was horribly burned on my eyebrows this week by a newer member of staff, I was electric with fury first, and shock secondly. I sent photos of my injury via DM and was told that someone would get back to me shortly. I never heard back. So I followed up the next day, still apoplectic with anger that I had been dismissed. ...Except I hadn't been dismissed at all! While I was waiting on IG for a response, Giselle and Mathilda were deeply apologetic in my WhatsApp (a platform I rarely check). They offered to deliver me a gel to treat my burn directly to my house at their own time and expense - additionally offering complimentary service on my next visit. And this is what sets Bela apart from the other salons I've been to. When they make mistakes, they don't make excuses. They take accountability. Fortunately, my face healed in time for a big event I had this weekend. I am grateful. God and a good future willing, I will be a customer for another 6 years!

I had gel nails done and the tech was extremely rough on my nails when buffing/filing the gel off. Atleast 5 of my cuticles were cut badly and some bled. She said I just have sensitive cuticles, but still proceeded to be rough with it and wiped acetone all over it? My cuticles are now so sensitive it even burns when I just put it in water.. I also had a tip put on and it was just not great quality. Overall a really painful experience and at the end it wasn't even worth it all. I hate leaving negative reviews because they all seemed so sweet, but I'm really unhappy with the service..
